First thing’s first. No, Rachel McAdams and Russell Crowe don’t get it on in their movie, “State of Play.” Their characters don’t even flirt with each other. That’s one of a few clichés that “State of Play” manages to avoid: sexual tension between the male and female lead characters. (Another cliché that the movie doesn’t have: the coupling of a leading man with a leading lady who’s young enough to be his daughter.) The political thriller “State of Play” marks the return of McAdams to a major-studio film, after the actress took a few years off to do small independent films like “Married Life” and “The Lucky Ones.”

Actress Rachel McAdams dreams of raising her family on a farm – because she believes children can learn important life lessons from barnyard animals.

The Notebook star enjoyed a humble upbringing in Ontario, Canada, where she still has a home close to her parents.

The 30-year-old, who is dating actor Josh Lucas, has yet to have kids of her own – but she hopes one day her children are in touch with nature so they can better understand life at an early age.

She tells America’s Marie Claire magazine, “I would give it a good shot for a while. I grew up in a small town, with a small backyard and raspberry bushes. My parents had a garden, but it was very basic.

“I think one thing that kids who grow up on farms really have going for them is they have exposure to death and birth in a totally different way. I think it takes away a little but of the mystery and a little but of the fear, and I do wish I had that.”
